Isle of Skye & Western Isles

In our guide with our map, you will find out more about the Isle of Skye, and the islands of the Outer Hebrides, also known as the Western Isles.  The Isle of Skye is one of Scotland's most iconic romantic islands with stunning scenery from rugged mountains to fairy glens and steeped in history. We'll let you know where to go and what to see - including some places off the beaten path.   We'll even give you information on how to book a highly recommended unforgettable wild walk with one of our favourite guides to see breathtaking scenery, local wildlife and learn a little bushcraft along the way too.

The Outer Hebrides are the most westerly islands of Scotland and stretch in a delicate chain of isles southwards interspersed with lochs, inlets, mountains, sea, moors and machair (the gaelic word for the grassy low-lying meadow plains situated by the sea).    The main islands are linked by ferry crossings and a series of causeways which allow you to explore the length of these islands by car.  Our guides will give you information on the islands of Lewis, Harris, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist and  Barra, as well as some of the smaller island gems.

These remote islands are a haven for wildlife and birds and a peaceful and beautiful place to explore with stunning deserted beaches and turquoise waters.  Each island has its own history, personality and scenery so let our guide help you make the most of your time there and discover more about the landscape its people, and its past.  We'll also give you our recommendations on where to stay and what to do - as well as places to eat.
