Perthshire and the Trossachs

Perthshire and the Trossachs make up a large scenic area which is centrally located in Scotland on the boundary of the Scottish Highlands and Lowlands. They can easily be reached from Edinburgh and Glasgow and make ideal locations to stop and explore during a tour of Scotland, or as wonderful destinations in their own right.  Here you will find beautiful lochs, glens, mountains and forests as well as a variety of ancient castles spanning historic eras.   It is no wonder that some have attracted Hollywood film-makers as dramatic settings and backdrops.  At Stirling you will find one of the most imposing and important castles of them all - Stirling Castle and nearby the impressive monument to one of Scotland's historic heros, William Wallace.

Perthshire is known as Big Tree Country with stunning colours in the Autumn and The Trossachs area is often known as Scotland in miniature with its variety of picturesque landscapes and native bird and wildlife.   Here you will find scenic Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park which includes Rob Roy country - historic homeland of another famous or perhaps infamous, Scot - Rob Roy MacGregor and the location of his grave in a peaceful little churchyard.

Take time to explore this scenic and interesting area of Scotland and you'll be surprised at all it has to offer - from picturesque romantic lochs that inspired the Scottish poet Sir Walter Scott to adrenaline-pumping outdoor activities - there's something for everyone.
